kintaro
Hi, there. I'm new in this forum, and I have a question you can help me... I'm really getting crazy with Sonic Stage 2.x and Windows Service Pack 2!! :wacky: I've already followed the instructions @ Net MD FAQ, step by step, and I didn't get any success... I've tried Sonic Stage 2.1 from Connect Europe, Sonic Stage 2.2 from Connect USA, and even the original OpenMG Jukebox, but they don't work! It's funny because before I installed Service Pack 2, my Open MG Jukebox was working pretty good. After SP2, it simply stopped working. It freezes during the drivers loading, and I have to use the Task Manager to finish its process. This is my configuration: Athlon XP 2400+ 256 Mb DDR333 RAM 40 Gb HDD (~9 Gb free) ECS 741GX Motherboard (SiS 741 chipset) Windows XP with Service Pack 2 Could you help me, please? Thank you very much! Regards, Kintaro.

Thank you very much! Regards, Kintaro.I really don't think it's SP2 at fault here, I've run SonicStage 1.5-2.2 on a couple of beta builds and the final build of SP2, I've never had a problem (that could not be be attributed to something else.) Having said that I've never ran OpenMG Jukebox... ever. Anyway it is perhaps because there's some part of OpenMG Jukebox is still lingering on your system, or perhaps SP2 has broken SonicStage. Have you tried reverting back to SP1 and seeing what happens? However my theory is that perhaps OpenMG Jukebox is incompatible with SP2 (an assumption), but when you installed SonicStage some part of OpenMG Jukebox was still lingering and was interfering, and thus that didn't work either. SonicStage is a fairly complex program, it's not an easy task to diagnose problems even when you're sat in front of it. But it's perhaps best if you can get back to a blank a slate as possible, removing every last vestige of SonicStage, Simpleburner and OpenMG Jukebox and their dependencies, removing every trace from the Windows registry and every file installed which is not an easy job since you could (very easily) break Windows in the process. Once you're sure everything has gone you should start from scratch although installing SonicStage 2.1 from the outset. Sadly I cannot offer a risk-free quick fix, because I don't think there is one. Thank you, RichM. I'll try to desinstall SP2, and reinstall Sonic Stage instaead of OpenMG Jukebox. But I'll try this solution only in this weekend, 'cause I think it will demand a lot of time... damn it, Microsoft and Sony!! Lol...
kintaro
Hi! It's me again! Now, at least, Sonic Stage 2.1 works. But... When I transfer an OMG-formatted music song to my Net MD (MZ-N505), Sonic Stage tranfers this file with variable bitrate (I guess), so the music sounds awful in my Net MD, it seems to be accelerated and with "jumpings" and "holes" during playback. I've tried to transfer in SP (normal) and MDLP (LP2 and LP4) modes, but in any mode the problem is the same. And I also tried Real Jukebox, but the problem persists. I've tested the same Sonic Stage 2.1 in another computer with Windows 2000 SP3, and it works normally. And the transferred music seems normal and stable during playback. I don't know what I can do for! My last (definitive and drastic) solution is to reinstall Windows XP without any damn Service Pack (after formatting my HDD), install Sonic Stage, and then reinstall SP1 and SP2. Anybody else have any other idea, ou a less drastic solution? Thank you! Regards, Kintaro.
sxc
Is the file ripped from a CD, or is it originally an MP3? And is it all files on that computer, or just some songs.

This sounds to me like something's interfering with the transfer across the USB cable. Do you have any other USB devices? Their accompanying programs could be interfering. Disconnect all unnecessary USB devices and close the processes to their programs in task manager and try it. Are their any issues with you USB controller hardware and their drivers specific to your mainboard. You should take at your mainboard manufacturers website to see if there any issues mentioned that sound similar to yours. Have you tried Simpleburner at all? This rips directly off the CD to the NetMD. Just some random ideas. I don't know what I can do for! Regards, Kintaro.I must admit, I like a new clean install on a blank hard disk, everything runs just nicely, but you should be careful what you install else the problem might occur again. Also if you intend to install SP2 you don't need install SP1. SP2 is a cumulative update and therefore contains all the updates of SP1. And is it all files on that computer, or just some songs.Unfotunately, both, CD or MP3 files. I've tried modifing the bitrate in Mp3 files, but the problem persists ONLY if I choose bitrates lower than 320 kbps. 320 kbps or higher works fine! I've tried changing cables, unplugging all USB devices, changing USB ports (1.1 to 2.0, and vice-versa), but these procedures didn't solve the problem. And, yes, I've already tried Simpleburner, and the problem persists.
RichM
If you're anything like me at this point, you'd be pulling your hair out. Probably to solve this problem on your current installation you'd probably need major Windows surgery. However the simpler back-up, re-format, reinstall method may solve it more quickly, not to mention it being easier on the blood-pressure. A440
Sony seems to have a fix posted for SP2 and OMG Jukebox problems It's on this page: http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/perl/news-item....6c92e415c011dcc Can't tell you if it works because I haven't installed SP2 or that security update yet. Elkingti
That fix is not for the Service Pack 2 Windows XP. I hate this behavior of Sony, man ... it's unbelibable. Kintaro, i have the same problem, and i have the solution. Backup your major files and docs, then format the PC and install a fresh windows, next make some updates but not that crazy one (i don't remember the name), try the sonic stage, it works for me. But if you install the SP2 the sonic stage stops working that for sure. The decision is yours. I prefer more safety on my PC. Those bastards of Sony shoud had done the homework, before this shit.
