brandonswan
Every song I try to record that I downloaded transfers as 2-4 seconds long! I have a brand new player too that I just purchased too. I am using v2.0 Sonicstage. Songs that I transfer on directly from audio CDs record fine but anything downloaded does not. It is regular MD and not HiMD.
aeriyn
Uninstall SonicState according to the FAQ and install the newest version, which you can download from connect.com. If the problem persists, reply to this thread.
brandonswan
I downloaded the 2.2 version after uninstalling the other version and I have the exact same problem still.... This is getting oh so frustrating seeing as I bought this new MD player because I had this problem with my old one too! It always worked fine until one day it just didn't anymore. Christopher
Welcome, brandon. Try uninstalling via the directions in the NetMD faq and also try a different disc.
brandonswan
I uninstalled all the Sonicstage things, simple burner, musicbox junk... I deleted all the files that the FAQ mentioned... Every single one it said... Followed all the directions... Still... Same problem... Won't put songs on as more than 2-4 seconds long. Thanks for all the help but I don't think it will ever work.
dex Otaku
1) What model is the unit? 2) What kind of discs are you using, and have you tried more than one? 3) What are the tracks you're trying to copy - ripped to SonicStage from CD, transcoded mp3, &c.? 4) Are there any other devices sharing the USB interface the unit is plugged into? 5) Is there software running in the system tray for any USB devices you've installed? [examples: speakers/audio devices, webcams, scanners, &c.]
brandonswan
MD Walkman MZ-N420D I think. I am using Sony discs that came with it and switched discs many a time and same results. I am trying to put on songs that I've downloaded or copied from CD onto my hard drive... Any songs I put on the discs DIRECTLY from CD work great. I have a few USB ports and have a webcam plugged into one which I unplug when I go to burn discs just in case... So, yes, there is some software that also runs off the USB ports. I hope that answers all the questions and maybe I can get some help.
dex Otaku
Try disabling all USB-related software [webcam stuff, &c.] .. and by disabling I mean closing it completely - if necessary, use the windows tasklist to kill the processes. Do you have access to another computer you could try downloading from?
Christopher
Are you using a USB hub?
RichM
Every song I try to record that I downloaded transfers as 2-4 seconds long!Incidentally 2 seconds and 4 seconds are the minimum lengths of an SP (and fake SP) track and an LP2 track respectively. Is there any sound or is it a few seconds of silence with the song's title?
Qwakrz
I am trying to put on songs that I've downloaded or copied from CD onto my hard drive... Any songs I put on the discs DIRECTLY from CD work great.I think we need to clear one thing up before we start looking at another device causing the problems. What format are the files that you are trying to transfering in (MP3, WMA, WAV etc etc)? SS has problems with some MP3 files & will not work with a majority of other files types. It is possible the source file is making SS just give up the conversion process. If the files are already in ATRAC format then you should not have any problems & need to start looking for other causes. You state that if you copy the CD directly (I presume using SS or SB) then you have no problems. Try converting the problem audio files to WAV files with a structure of 44.1KHz and 16 bit & import them into SS
