How to make VGF-AP1L show Chinese on screen

As discussed in other topic postings, the VGF-AP1L can only show chinese characters that are within the Kanji libary. Otherwise, the text will be shown as question marks.

I tried to convert the chinese text from unicode to Kanji and input the kanji code in SS. Now those text shows up correctly on my VP screen.

Anybody tried the same thing?

Yes, I use this software "NJStar Japanese Word Processor".

Just copy and paste the Chinese text to the software, it will conert it into Kanji code. Then copy and paste that in the Sonicstage (title, artist and so on). Finally, transfer the album into VP. That's it.

Sounds easy, but lots of work. I only finish one album so far.

Update: I conducted a test of my own - titling Chinese characters with the NJStar Japanese Word Processor. Results were good but some Chinese characters are still not supported.

A few examples: 呢, 癮, 同, 你

kuma, can you successfully title any of the above Chinese characters? If you are able to; please do let me know what you do different. Thanks.

That's what kuma said at the beginning - some characters are simply not in the Japanese Kanji library of devices, so they don't display even when the rest show up okay

I think Leon is right. There are just some characters that are not in the library.

I got 100% in my first try. Lucky.

In my second album, I found one that can't be convert: 你 in 2 of the songs

Unfortunately, this is a really important one and will be in many titles.

Simplified Chinese will work only when they are the same as the traditional version.

Well I've been using a program called "convertz" . It does batch conversions of mp3 tags from simplified chinese to traditional chinese and vice versa (remember to use unicode). This method works for both vaio and hd5. However, some characters (very few) still don't show up right and it still annoys the hell out of me. I'm a perfectionist as my friend calls me (high maintenance). ipod supports all chinese characters, and it also sorts song titles accordingly to pinyin. In this aspect, it's superior than the hd5 that i own. *ignore this msg if you can only read english and dont give a jack about chinese*
