Raify
I've just been trawling through the myriad sony web pages trying to find who to talk to about Sonicstage 2.2 I still can't resolve my CDDB problem, see here Any UK members know who to call to resolve this? thanks in advance, Nathan
Christopher
Did you get your Sonicstage 2 from Connect Europe, or just connect.com?
Raify
90% sure Connect Europe, I followed the instructions on the FAQ. If i've got it from the wrong place, would that explain the CDDB problem?
Christopher
It's logical that it could be the issue.
RichM
I use SonicStage 2.2 from the US Connect website and I'm located in the UK. My CDDB works, but only when I'm logged in as an admin not as my usual "Power User" account (in Windows XP I hasten to add). However in my case I'm willing to bet that it's to do with the "rights" I've set up on my local drives or in the registry which are not default. Raify
Just to be certain, I un-installed everything and re-installed (from Connect Europe). Still no CDDB. Does anyone have any bright ideas? pleeeeeaaaasse1 It's been almost 4 months since I've been able to record a Minidisc. The end of the tether is in sight, and iPods are being eyed up. Christopher
Did you uninstall and reinstall via the directions in the NetMD faq?
Raify
Did you uninstall and reinstall via the directions in the NetMD faq?Yes, although it's not very clear how far one should go (delete registry entries?) when you have a Vaio, like I do. WARNING: If you use a Sony VAIO with preinstalled software provided by Sony or use other software developed by Sony, do not follow the procedure below
jadeclaw
One Note: Sony is too dumb to create software, that works with non-admin user accounts. Despite the fact, that the programming interface for that is known since the old times of Windows NT3.51. So, for SonicStage to work correctly, you need admin rights. (Security risk!!!). Raify
Will check the user account at home tonight, as far as I remember, it has full rights...
Christopher
Try uninstalling everything via the control panel, install Sonicstage 1.5, and then install the Sonicstage 2.# updater on top of that.

Christopher
Welcome to the forums. Did you get it from www.connect-europe.com ? If so, and still have problems, please reinstall via the directions in the NetMD faq [found within this forum].
Raify
Try uninstalling everything via the control panel, install Sonicstage 1.5, and then install the Sonicstage 2.# updater on top of that.I tried this over the weekend. removed everything, installed 1.5 from the original disk I had. (this didn't work with CDDB either!) updated to 2.3 and still no CDDB. I have run out of things to try. Any more suggestions before I buy the iPod? Christopher
Did you actually register with it? You have to within the program, I believe. Additionally, do you have any firewalls on or anything of that sort?
Raify
Yes, I registered with CDDB each time I re-installed. I will check whether the firewalls are affecting it. I have a router firewall, but this was in effect when Sonicstage 1.5 was working with CDDB. Is the firewall in Windows SP2 an issue? thanks for the replies, Nathan
Templer.
Hi, Thanks for the advise. Downloaded it from connect and seems to be working fine. Just got to figure out how to use the thing now as i've no instructions. Thanks again all.
