moormaster
Hi, I have bought a Hi MD Player (MZ-NH700) and installed the software Sonic Stage 2.0. Everytime I start the software it sais that the database has to be updated and then the program has to be restarted. When I click on OK it shows shortly a box with a statusbar and then the program just terminates without a message. If I restart it it tells me the same everytime. I have tried to reinstall it for serveral times but the problem remains. I hope anybody here can help me.
Christopher
Hello, please upgrade to Sonicstage 2.2 at connect.com.
moormaster
The downloader from connect.com only offers Sonic Stage 2.1. Where to get 2.2?
RichM
SonicStage 2.1 is almost as good as 2.2, but waaaay better than 2.0. 2.1 only, are you in Europe?
moormaster
yes, i installed it but it makes more problems than 2.0 It keeps the message from above and additionally displays that it cannot find a program which is needed. But which program exactly is not displayed.
moormaster
After a new install the message that one program is missing is not there anymore. But the first problem still wont go away Since 2.1 i can start the database convert from the start menu. If I do that it says that the database cannot be converted because it is not new enough. I wonder because i initialized a new one after deleting the old and still this message is displayed. Maybe there are some corrupt drivers for the database? Christopher
I think you should reinstall via the directions in the NetMD faq. It's found within the NetMD forum. Additionally, can you state where you're from?
RichM
Somebody on one of these forums had a similar problem. If you do some trawling through the Technical Support, NetMD, and Hi-MD forums you might find a solution. I, personally, had a problem with a missing database engine component (a DLL), and SonicStage always complained about a corrupt database, that thread is buried in the forums somewhere also, I'm sorry I am really lazy. The last thing I suggest is to uninstall all SonicStage and it's components and start all over. Read this faq here, incidentally this is the same one kurisu is pointing you towards. moormaster
I'm from Europe (Germany) to solve your question. I think it has something to do with the Microsoft Drivers which are used to open access databanks. I dont believe that a complete reinstall of the program would solve this but i can try
Christopher
Are you using Windows XP? If so, upgrade to Service Pack 2. It has everything relevant to the database components you mention.
moormaster
I had installed SP2 for exactly 30 Minutes. After recognizing that my Graphics Card did only work in PCI Mode, my Internet Connection slowed down, my DVD Burner hasnt been detected, the IE asks on every popup if it should display it (what is even more annoying than just closing the popups) and that a lots of programs just didnt want to start i restored my SP1 Backup again. I see no use in SP2 except that it makes everything more complicate since i would have to upgrade nearly every driver and every program on my pc. But for what? For a personal firewall and 300 new bugs?
Christopher
Try this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results...&DisplayLang=en
moormaster
I have tried to make a clean uninstall like described in that link from RichM but it didn't help. Also this Windows Fix did not help. Same problem.
Christopher
Try this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en Also, if you have codecs installed on your system, uninstall them.
moormaster
Yes I have no codecs installed because I had problems with them already with OpenMG some time ago At least no codec packs. Codecs are always on your pc ^^ I now tried the second Fix but still it doesn't work.
Christopher
Try: http://www.dependencywalker.com/ OR: Go to start, run, put in sfc /scannow and let 'er run.
moormaster
I have tried both. What should I find with the depenciy walker? The filecheck from Windows didnt find any errors.
Christopher
It's discussed here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=5914
moormaster
The Depency walker points to one dll which takes longer to load. But this was only a function to ensure that internet is connected. Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module. MPR.dll WNetRestoreConnectionA (has a red symbol in the PI column) How can I see if one dll is older than the one which is required?
Christopher
Are you sure that doesn't have to do with what they talk about in Dependency's faq? http://www.dependencywalker.com/faq.html p.s. Turn off any firewalls, btw.
