Great_Nemesis
Hi am new here and have some noob questions. First off all for Christmas I would like to have a Mini Disc player either the MZNH1 or the mznh900S. Here are my stupid questions:- 1) What is the diffrence between at Hi-MD player and the Net Player? 2) Does the recording software come with these two players so that am able to transfer files from PC to the player via USB cablr, also does it include the converting software so that I can turn files to Atrac or MP3? 3) I have a Avril Lavign album. When I put it in my PC and look in the contents of the disc I see no audio files what so ever. Many discs are like this I think. How do I transer songs of this type of cd on to a mini disc? 4) If am not able to transfer that cd from pc to the Mini Disc via the PC, can I put the CD in a Hi-Fi and connect the Hi-Fi to my mini disc player and then record it that way? Also does the two players come with a optical cable which allows me to conenct the two devices? Thanks for any help you can give me
Qwakrz
Ill try and answer. 1) NetMD is the fore runner of Hi-MD. Net MD allows for upto 320 mins on an 80 min disc (with lower audio quality), Hi-MD gives us a higher capacity disc (1GB) and ability to reformat standard discs to higher capacity (300MB). This is tied into using Atrac3 (NetMD & Hi-MD) and Atrac3+ (Hi-MD Only). 2) Minidisc is NOT capable of playing MP3's nativly. Any audio has to be converted to Atrac to be playable on an MD unit & the software will come with the unit, its also downloadable from www.connect.com (Its reccomended to download as it will be the newest version) 3 & 4) SonicStage (SS) should be able to see the audio tracks on the disc (but I believe the disc is protected by Cactus) the disc is actually a CDExtra disc with a data track at the end for PC's. If not then you can use an optical cable to link to your Hi-Fi and copy it that way (I had an optical cable in my NH1).
