RPC
Up until a few days ago I did'nt have a problem with SS 2.0 I have a brand new notebook with XP SP2.Anyway,my problem is that Sonicstage says that another program has initilsed the Hi-md and refuses to play it or transfer. Also Sonicstage seems unable to reinitilise the Hi-md,it fails each time I try.MD Simple Burner on the other hand says that another program is using the files on the Hi-md and can't play it.I am not using either of these programs at the same time. The odd thing is when when I put a NetMD in,Sonicstage and Simple Burner have no problems playing them.I tried uninstalling SS and erasing all traces of it from the registry and then reinstalling but no luck.Anyone help me out here? Please. Christopher
Welcome! When you did the registry bit, did you uninstall specifically via the directions in the NetMD faq [found within the NetMD forum]? You may also want to check your computer for viruses and spyware. RPC
I managed to find a solution to this problem.I just deleted the OMGKEY in the Sonicstage folder. As soon as I started SS a new one was generated and everything worked fine after that. infoman
I have the same problem. However I can't find the OMGKEY. What is it and where is it? I was uninstalling an unrelated program and my computer crashed. After that I couldn't uninstall it although it hadn't finished so I deleted the files manualy. I then ran a program called Ultra Wincleaner One Click. This told me I had loads of invaid registry files so I deleted them all, thinking they all related to this program. Since then all Sonicstage will tell me, even after I reinstalled it, is the following message: " Cannot use this disc as an audio disc because it is initalized by other than Sonicstage. Click device/media button and initalize the disc to use it as an audio disc. " It tells me that for every Hi-MD I put in. I cannot find any reference to that error message in the sonicstage help file and nor could I work out what the device/media button was. Why should this problem occur? After all, all my Hi-MD minidiscs play find in my NH-900 MD player when not connected to the computer. I'm not running any other software which would initialize it either. Apart from MD Simpleburner and MyComputer part of Windows I don't believe I have any. I did find a reference in the help file saying the following: " Tracks managed by SonicStage cannot be played back. Making any changes to the Windows System Registry may cause tracks to become unplayable. Do not change the Windows System Registry settings unless it is absolutely necessary " However it is of no help. It doesn't tell me how to make the tracks playable in Windows. Why should a registry cleaner think that files related to Sonicstage are invaid? Is that a fault of the registry cleaning software or Sony's Sonicstage? I would like to be able to play my MD tracks using Sonicstage so I could record them in realtime to my computer. That was one of the reasons for buying the machine. I didn't check out Sony's knowlege centre because I figured this place would be much better. Is that true? Thank you for any help
infoman
Hi I found another thread about how to uninstall Sonicstage. That hopefully will solve the problem. I understand it but I know people who are not technically minded and they wouldn't have a clue. Why do Sony make it so complicated for people? I doubt the advice on reinstalling is on sony's website. I admit I haven't checked.
