campekenobi
Just wondering... since audio compression is necessary to fit more music on a MINI-CD as opposed to a regular-sized CD, and now suddenly we can fit 1 GIG on the same size disc, anyone know if perhaps our hi-MD discs are actually mini-DVD-Rs??? marcnet
Domain Wall Displament .... something something something. Its basically a technology that takes advantage of the fact that magnetics can write data at a finer resolution than a laser can. The reading is then done by a laser. The switching and displacement layers of a HIMD disc make Each data "spot" bigger in physical size than it actually is http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=5553 and http://www.minidisc.org/hi-md_faq.html

Christopher
Also, if you click on the [G] link next to Search at the top of the forums, you can then use a Google search to search only Minidisc.org [be sure to click the little dot next to minidisc.org once you're in]. I would suggest a search term like "Minidisc science"
