Anomaly460 Posted December 10, 2004 Report Share Posted December 10, 2004 I recently purchased a NH1 and I'm running sonic stage 2.2. I have a very large collection of cds ripped into Mp3 format on my computer...and converting files is a pain when i wanna add them to HiMD and go. So i was wondering was there a way to use SS to convert the files without transferring them to the unit...that way when i wanna transfer them to the unit it will be a much quicker process. Also i was wondering how do you store other files types using the HiMD? Could you connect your unit to any computer with USB and read/transfer the files?? I think the User Manual was vague on some topics...especially concerning SS use. oh one more thing. Has anyone heard of them developing a HiMD car unit?? marcnet Posted December 10, 2004 Report Share Posted December 10, 2004 Just create a new group in sonic stage, browse to it and drag & drop mp3 & wav files onto the libary browser (left half of SS window). vova Posted December 10, 2004 Report Share Posted December 10, 2004 There is a downloadable SOny mp3 conversion tool which crawls your HD for mp3s and converts them to atrac and adds them to the SS library while you sleep. Christopher Posted December 11, 2004 Report Share Posted December 11, 2004 No, you'll need to use the Sonicstage backup utility to facilitate such a transfer, otherwise you'll lose everything. When you export songs in such a manner, you're also exporting the rights management with it. If you don't use the backup utility, then once you transfer the music to a new computer [and a different install of Sonicstage], Sony thinks your a pirate.
