Viz
Bought a Yamaha MD4 in (1997?), and soon after it was out of warranty, had a disc lock. By Yamaha's recommendation, sent it to their authorized repairman, Paul, in CA. Cost $85 + ship to "fix" it. Then about 1 1/2 yrs ago, a disc locked again. Emailed and called Yamaha, and expressed dissatifaction at the re-occurance of the same problem, and wondered how many times it would happen again. they sent me an RA about a year ago, but I didn't send it because it was unclear what or if I had to pay. then I emailed them last week, and here is the (what I consider) the arrogant response (pasted from the email): THAT RA was warranty parts and you pay for labor, that was a generous deal from us, AFTER the tech takes a look he/she would have been able to determine the cause and maybe had some tips to help prevent this...but that is done, your cost would have been shipping plus 100 to 160 dollars for labor. Seeming the PARTS cost is over 400 dollars it would have been a good deal. Yamaha Customer Support ycasupport@yamaha.com 714-522-9000 I think that I've been given a bad deal here, and want to fix this problem once and for all. I don't want to just trash an otherwise nice (and costly! @ $1,000 + repair) product. Can anyone help? Can I fix this myself? Can I get a shop manual? ???
