engramic
Hello all. Im in the market for a new recorder. I live in Tokyo, so there are many models available, but I dont speak Japanese very well so its difficult to get details on various units. I will be recording live sound; mainly music, plus ambience and other sounds for soundscape work. I used a Sony unit once and adjusting the input level required me to go into a sub menu to set the level. This needed to be done every time I wanted to record something, which was really annoying. I will always set the input level manually so I want something that is easy and fast to adjust. The Sony Hi-MD units seem really nice, but is the input level adjustment option in a sub menu? This alone would stop me buying one. Is it the same for all Sony MDs? Other choices include the Panasonic SJ-MR240 and Sharp MDR77. Does anyone else know much about these units in terms of functionality and sound quality? I could find hardly anything on the net about the Panasonic model. Thanks, Marc
