daiv
i am getting a MZNH600DKIT minidisc player for xmas, as well as a ECM-MS907 microphone. are they compatible? i can find no information about it. if not, i'll have to get a different minidisc player or a different mic. i know there is a clip on the mic, but i dont know if the player has a holder for it / a port. i thought they were compatible, but my dad said he couldnt find anything about it on the box (its an xmas present so i havent seen it) and i started to wonder and i couldnt find anything about it. Fat Tires
The NH600D is a download only unit. This means that it doesn't have a Line Input or a Microphone Input either. The only way to use this particular unit is to copy music or any audio via USB from your PC to the MD unit. I'm sorry to say that you will not be able to use your microphone. daiv
which unit should i get so that i can use a microphone?
Fat Tires
Any Hi-MD model up from the NH600D will have a Mic input. The NH700, NHF800, NH900, and NH1 are those models.
daiv
thank you very much. luckily my parents are willing to pay more money to return that one and get me one of the other ones. why would they sell one without mic input? they make it so hard to find out on the sonystle website. it took me forever to read their subtle hints at being able to record or not. what is the difference between the mznh900 and the mznh1? besides price, of course. Fat Tires
First off, Sony knows that not everyone will use a microphone to record on their minidisc units, so they make low end units for those folks. They've been doing this ever since they released the MZ-R500 MDLP unit a few years ago. The main difference between the NH1 and NH900 is that the NH1 has an internal Li-ion battery, while the NH900 uses the standard "gumstick" battery. The NH900 does have a benefit in that it can also use a batteyr attchment to also use an AA battery in addition to the rechargable gumstick one. The NH1 also comes with a nicer remote too. The NH900 has a bigger LCD display than the NH1. Personally, Id rather go for the NH900 just because of the AA add-on. The bigger LCD display doesn't hurt. daiv
thanks, i went with the nh900. i love it, but i am having problems with sonicstage (as if i didnt expect to, ugh). it worked fine yesterday, but now every time i try to transfer to the minidisc it crashes on me. just to see i uploaded two test tracks i recorded yesterday (that i dont care if i upload wrong and wont get to again cuz of DRM) and that worked fine, so i am completely confused. i reinstalled but it didnt do anything. i want to uninstall and reinstall it, but i would rather not because then i think i might have ot reformat and retransfer the 80 songs. if thats what i have to do, fine, but who's to say it wont work again for one day and stop? do you know what the problem might be? A440
What version of SonicStooge are you using? If you're using the one from the disc that came with your MD, you should upgrade to 2.3 from www.connect.com or http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download...SVAL=ALLOS%255D Unfortunately, that's a web installer, so I hope you're not on dialup. If you're lucky, it will upgrade automatically from whatever you have installed and leave your Library alone. But of course, there is a chance that it will trash your songs. Still, it shouldn't be that hard to redo 80 songs, and it's worth it: you should get a much less crash-prone and faster SS.
andrewhall
"I hope you're not on dialup. " I need to upgrade also and I am on a very slow dialup - about 1 hour / 10 Mb. Is there any reason this will not work with an overnight download? Andrew
Christopher
Yes, it will work just fine in an overnight download session.
