Shermy
Hi All,I'm assuming that all the posts related to accessing service mode on the new Hi-MD units have fallen victim to the little incident that occurred before the holidays.I'm curious to know if there is the ability to change defaults on your recorder via service mode. Specifically, I'd like to make manual recording volume the default rather than AGC. Not sure if I'm using the correct terminology, so I'll explain a bit further.I was performing in a 4 hour gig on New Years, and I wanted someone to record for me. I had little time to explain to this person how to operate the recorder. I set it up as I would like to record with the manual recording volume set at 25/30 using line in. I had it set to record on pause before I made all the settings. I instructed the person to hit the pause button again to begin recording. Everything fine for the first set. Then the person hit stop. That (from how the recording sounds) switched the recording mode to the default - AGC. It remained that way for the next 3.5 hours of recording. Since I was recording a Jazz Big Band, the results are pretty pitiful due to the wide range of dynamics being pretty much completely wiped out.Thats my motive for posting this, HOWEVER, I think it would be nice to resurrect the posts that were wiped out for everyone's benefit. If I'm way off base in thinking you can change the defaults of your recorder by going into service mode, let me know. Thanks!!
