newseed
I have been desparately looking for a way that I can use my MZ-N1 as a removable divice that I can play music unencrypted. I read an article about this but i think it was BS. My question is, is there any hope for me?
Fat Tires
I think that you're out of luck on that hope. I've never heard of such a thing.

Christopher
Welcome to the forums! To cope with such, why not try using Sonicstage 2.2/2.3? It's not that bad..
Qwakrz
I have been desparately looking for a way that I can use my MZ-N1 as a removable divice that I can play music unencrypted. I read an article about this but i think it was BS. My question is, is there any hope for me?←The article you saw was an April Fool's joke that some nice person put on a web site.I would love Sony to come along and make it real though as they described a way to remove atrac from the unit, replacing it with MP3 playback only. Fat Tires
MP3 only? no way. I want to see, and have to believe that Sony would follow suit with their current release of players that do both ATRAC3Plus and MP3 as well. That would offer us all the chance to keep using our converted media without going to the trouble of reencoding everything.

Christopher
ATRAC3/plus allows us to save space on discs as well..
Fat Tires
Don't forget that battery life is better with ATRAC3Plus too.
ROMBUSTERS
oh dont get me wrong i enjoy Atrac especially for very low bitrate modes but its easier to take an MP3 to MP3 then MP3 to Atrac (i'd probably still do my CDs in Atrac though)
