Rapido5
I recently tried to copiy my cds on a HiMD MD using the MD Simple burner (MSB)software. I was using 45KPS and managed to get about 13 CDs on one disc. While copying my 14th cd my MSB generated a message saying my tracks were being used somewhere else and it couldn't copy them. So, I exited the program. I tried to play the music I had already copied and I got a message saying that I "Cannot Record or Play." Keep in mind that I had been able to play music before and tested it after each album. Has anyone encountered this before? The disc seems useless now. I can't read it so I can't even erase it and start from scratch.
ROMBUSTERS
yes and nowas the CD by chance copy-protected or did it have enhanced CD qualities (i.e. was there extra band art, videos, media, programs on the disc?)ive had this happen in the second case where the disc was constantly being accessed trying to load a program to play the bands enhanced cd mediatry making sure nothing is loading and your cd isn't spinning before starting SB see if that makes any difference
dex Otaku
Try formatting the disc on the player. If this works, you could then try transferring to it again.
Rapido5
How would I go about reformatting the disk? If you mean to use the MD Simple Burner software I can't. When I click erase all I get a message that says "cannot continue because files on this disk are being used by another program. No other program is open. Try formatting the disc on the player. If this works, you could then try transferring to it again.←
Christopher
You can delete the contents of the disc via the player itself. It's within the menu and I would suggest referring to the manual that came with the unit for info on how to do so.
Rapido5
Thanks for your help. I'll have to fund the manual and I'll let you know what happens. You can delete the contents of the disc via the player itself. dex Otaku
For HiMD-formatted discs [MD or 1GB] there are two options for this: one that erases all tracks [as with traditional MDs] and another that formats the disc.I have noted that using the format rather than erase option is more likely to recover a disc from, say, having SS crash during a download. Also, "all erase" [or "erase all", whichever it is] does not affect the title you have given a disc. Format erases all titling.Note that the DRM information on the disc [disc history] stays there regardless of which you use.
Rapido5
I think I may be mildly retarded. I just downloaded the manual online and there is nothing about reformatting my disk. I'm still getting the error message when I click the "menu" option. I'm using the Sony MZ-NH600D walkman. Any idea how this player works? At this point I'm ready to consider it a lose and just buy more 1GB discs.
dex Otaku
It's possible that the menu mode has to be switched to "advanced" for this to work. Format is one of the options under "EDIT" on my NH700, a few down from ALL ERASE.I tend to forget about the advanced menu thing, since the first thing I did after puttig a battery in my unit, right out of the box, was switch that. It's also possible that the NH600 doesn't have this, since [in North America at least] it is a downloader only and doesn't share all of the same functions. I know that doesn't make much sense, but Sony have done stranger things.
Rapido5
I'm starting to get fed up with Sony North American. I buy most of my producs from MiniDisco.com and usually get the Japanese versions. They tend not to give me any problems. I'll look into it. At this rate is really is easier just to buy more discs and make sure none of the CDs I copy of "enhanced" features. Thanks for all your help.
