mikeuk
last week i read a post on here about what people would like to see in future MDs but i can't find it now, and i've thought of a useful addition to the remote control.i've got an NH900 and cycling through tracks and albums with the spinning disc on the front (which leaves your current song playing and you can jump straight to any specific album/track) of the unit appears to be a very power-efficient way of moving through the disc, whereas using the album/10 track jump buttons on the remote just kills the battery. surely it wouldn't be too difficult to incorporate a similar feature into the remote control? i always use the soft pouch that came with my NH900 or the more durable belt clip pouch that came with my previous Net MD (can't remember the model) because the aforementioned Net MD saw it's demise through being carried unprotected in my pocket; scratches, buttons stop working and eventually the screws worked their way out of the case and the front was loose! cos when you've got your unit in your pocket/bag inside some form of protective pouch, it's hassle to take it out and cycle through.chances of this maybe happening?one other thing i was wondering, what's the average battery life of a HiMD unit for just constant playback, no track skipping, editing or even volume adjustment, just solid playback. it appears to me that if Sony offer a product that boasts 40 hours of music, the battery should be able to handle atleast 40 hours of music as well. then again, maybe it can, i don't know.Mike
ROMBUSTERS
chances of this maybe happening?there are chances for everything but unless your abnormally rough with it you should have no problemone other thing i was wondering, what's the average battery life of a HiMD unit for just constant playback, no track skipping, editing or even volume adjustment, just solid playback. it appears to me that if Sony offer a product that boasts 40 hours of music, the battery should be able to handle atleast 40 hours of music as well. then again, maybe it can, i don't know.Mike←The average batterylife depends on the type of battery used, its current condition, the type of MD used, the MD mode, and the bitrate/playback mode used.Sony says you can get 21.5Hours of playback on 48kbps on a 1GB HiMD disc on my NH700 so im guessing at that same rate you'll get a much longer playback. If you play the disc in old MD mode (because the laser is then not needed to heat up the disc surface to expand the data for reading) it requires less power and thus should be comparible to older MDs. dex Otaku
I thought the remotes included with the higher models [900 and NH1] had this functionality built-in with a little thumbwheel.. no?
ROMBUSTERS
i thought the NH1 remote did at the very least. not sure about the 900 (unless they use the same remote)
