k-o-x
Hello everybody, Ok, so I own a sony MDS-S38 md deck, on which I erased one one my MDs last night. I found looooots of instructions on TOC cloning to recover it (test mode blah blah blah) but it seems this method is not to be used on my deck. Let me explain what I did :- I have a blank MD, which I recorded with one 74 minutes SP stereo silent track (same format as the one I would like to restore).- I dirtied the TOC (changed disc name) (*)- I went to test-mode (plug off, hold AMS, plug on, release AMS) and changed the disc to the one with erased tracks- I exitted test mode (plug off and on) (**)The problem is, the deck should write the TOC to the new disc when I exit test mode. Instead, it just ejects the disk without writing anything and then blinks "standby" for a few times.I also tried NOT to dirty the toc as stated on some websites (ie same as above without the "(*)" line), and I tried exitting test mode (**) by plugging off and on the deck AND by pressing "repeat" on the deck without difference.Do you know if this is a normal behaviour ? ie whether the S38 is able to copy TOCs or not using the well-known test-mode method? And in this case is there another way to do it ? And (sorry !) if not, are there ways to do it on a MZ-N510 or MZ-N707 portable player ?Please excuse me for my bad english, and if I misplaced my post or these questions were already answered (though I searched the forum before posting), please let me know. Thanks in advance to anybody answering.
k-o-x
Ok, just found out that the S38 wasn't able to clone TOCs at all (because it ejects the disk on power recovery). I'm sorry I didn't find it before posting, but searching S38 on the website returned no interesting results so I had to browse every minidisc.org page to find what I want...So now I can't find service/test modes for my MZ-N510 & N707 players. I found several pages telling to put hold on, to hold PLAY, VOL- or GROUP while pressing ff, ff, rev, rev, ff, rev, ff, rev, pause, pause. But all these don't work on both 510 & 707. And actually I don't remember any page saying this would work for these devices.Do you have an idea how the test mode can be accessed on N510/707 devices ?Edit : 'got it ! If you have a 510 you'll have to set hold on, hold STOP on the device and press ff/ff/rev/rev/ff/rev/ff/rev/play/play on the remote.
