ROMBUSTERS
yep i do this at my house. you need a stereo mini (male) to stereo (left right chanel) cable. Plug the stereo mini cable into your headphone jack and the left right channels into their audio inputs. Blast the HiMD at 30vol (if possible) and then control the audio with the amp itself
Guest NRen2k5
Actually the name for this is a "3.5mm to RCA Y-plug". Specifically, you want one that is male at both ends.
johnyg
Sweet, i’ll be getting one of those leads tomorrow. It will be so good to have my md loaded with music without having to resort to pesky cd changing. So the optical out can only be used for transferring from cd – md but there are connections for audio inputs from md , tape and aux to play with. Bought the Yamaha mini hifi today from http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_20422.html for £139.98 and the sound acoustics are breathtaking for the price. Graded product so the boxes have been opened but what the heck when it retailed last year at £299.00.I’m very happy with my purchase. dex Otaku
Additional advice for hooking up your portable to your stereo amp:* turn off AVLS* turn off EQ [see below]* set the output volume to 25/30The EQ .. HiMDs without the digital amp [NH600, NH700, NHF800] have a slight rise in bass response that will likely be exaggerated when plugging into an amp. It is advisable to either turn the EQ off completely or else to use one of the custom settings with an all-flat setting except the very bottom [actually, the leftmost] band; turn this one down one or two notches to compensate for the bass boost.
