Trent2800
I read your FAQ and also tried a few searches but I was unable to find my specific problem. I apologize if I overlooked it but I figured after about thirty minutes of reading I'd just ask you fine people for a little help. My friend has a MZ-S1 (NetMD?) player and she lost the software at some point. I told her that I would locate said software and give it to her. I quickly located the software needed first from the Sony support site then downloaded it again later from the connect.com site. Both times I was confronted with a download then a crash thereafter. I have made a screenshot of the technical report (You cant select the text inside.) and I’m also attaching what appears to be an XML file including a large amount of information that was included with the crash. At this point I believe that my system specs might come in handy: AMD Athlon 2.5+, 512MB PC2700, Windows XP SP2 Corp Edition. I don't claim to be the ultimate authority on all things computer but I do believe that 12 years experience and a BS in IT does afford me a little in the way of computer/OS maintenance so, we might be able to rule that out. Also, along with SP2 I have updated my XP, uninstalled my AVG Anti-virus (separate issue), and scanned my system with three different spyware removal tools (for comparison's sake mostly.) I have of course sought help with the Sony staff but as of yet not received anything past the canned response to my e-mail. I don't know exactly how to proceed from here so, any assistance would be much appreciated.ED - Upon reviewing the post to make sure that I had included all pertinent information, I had an epiphany. I had realized that the temp files that had been downloaded the first time could be fudging the whole thing up. So, I searched them out and deleted them. I was then ecstatic to be greeted by a functioning install screen featuring the modules that would need to be downloaded. Happily I clicked Ok... and was quickly shot down. Seconds after clicking Ok, the program again crashed. I’m in the process of finding more temp files and possibly re-downloading the installer. Sometimes I wish that MD5 was more widely accepted so I could verify the download... ohh well.d81_appcompat.txt Edited February 11, 2005 by kurisu
dex Otaku
This is a stab in the dark, but it's possible that your version of Installshield might need to be updated.Trying googling "installshield update".I have no other suggestions at the moment. Good luck.. and welcome to the board.
