LtrHome
I recorded a live rock show recently of a local band at a nearby bar using my Sony MZ-NH900 in PCM mode. This was my first ever live recording and it came pretty good. I've transferred the music file from my MD to my PC using SonicStage. However, when I try to split up the different songs into separate tracks using the Divide Tracks function in SonicStage, I keep getting an error message that reads: "an error occurred during the divide," and I can't divide the track. I've searched the Internet, my MD manual and SonicStage Help, but I still can't seem to find a solution to this problem. Can anyone help with this problem? Thanks! A440
Free the tracks from SonicStage. Use Wav. converter to turn the track into a .wav file, and then you can use any audio editing program, like Audacity.
LtrHome
Thanks! So is there some bug with the SonicStage software that prevents the tracks from being split up using the Divide track function? Just curious...

zerodB
I believe the reason you can't divide may be another silly OpenMG DRM restriction. Since you uploaded the concert as a single track to SonicStage, it needs to maintain the data as a single track, to avoid potential copyright problems. Why this should exactly be classed as a "potential copyright problem" I don't know, but that is the way the OpenMG system operates: without any regard to conventional logic and common sense.Solution: Divide the tracks manually on your unit prior to transfer to PC. Or just convert the whole track using the WAV convertor and then go from there as mentioned above.
LtrHome
Interesting....thanks for the information. After doing a little experimenting, I found CDWave Editor (located here: http://www.milosoftware.com/cdwave/)to be the easiest, fastest and most user-friendly way to split up the file into individuals tracks. Definitely check it out!
dex Otaku
As stated in the upload FAQ: You can't use SS's editing functions until after deleting the tracks from their original source, i.e. deleting them on the HiMD your recorded them on. ozpeter
As stated in the upload FAQ: You can't use SS's editing functions until after deleting the tracks from their original source, i.e. deleting them on the HiMD your recorded them on.←I'm encountering this error message every time I divide a track (in Hi-SP mode) using SS3.0 - the track was recorded via line in analogue and has been deleted from the MD. It does the divide, but still gives me the error message, which is disquieting. I don't think I actually want to use this facility (I use and recommend Adobe Audition) but it still seems a bit odd. dex Otaku
I just tested dividing and combining tracks, and both work fine for me. [for HiLP, HiSP, and PCM].I can't begin to guess why we're not experiencing the same behaviour.
ozpeter
I also get an error message every time after deleting tracks from the MD and it does its check of whether the rights on the PC should therefore be updated. I'm wondering whether I should reinstall the program to see if that sorts it, just in case something goes wrong later that might actually matter to me.
