saki
First of all, I have installed Sonicstage v2.3 (I wasn't even able to install the v2.1 that came with my NHF800), and I used it once and found that it screwed something up slightly. I transfered a two minute piece of music and it took the first one second of the song and separated it into another track. Weird, huh?!? Anyway, I used the Wav Conversion tool and converted both files to .wav. Well, the 1 second that was turned into its own track isn't recognized as a .wav when I try to burn with Nero. I am still a bit too scared of trying to transfer the actual 2 hour show I recorded recently for fear of something screwing up. I transfered from the headphone jack on the minidisc to the line-in on my soundcard and just recorded with Nero (the whole two hour show in real-time). Anyway, it was a disaster!! The show is CHOCK-FULL of pops, crackle and tons of hiss. I tried cleaning up the recording with Nero and Audacity, but to no avail. The original source is perfect, so it's obviously the transfer. I am wondering what it is that caused the pops/crackle/hiss on the transfer. Can anyone help?säki
A440
Are you running a lot of other processes simultaneously on your computer? The pops and crackles may be your processor trying to cope with too much at once. If you're running other programs, extra USB ports, etc. turn them off and try recording again without them. I suspect that's the problem, but also, is it a good soundcard? Have you done other line-in recording with it? Could the pops and crackles be coming from a loose jack or a bad cord? The soundcard is just standard junk... The cord is new, so that shouldn't be the problem... As for a loose jack, I'll have to check...Thanks for the reply!!!säki
dex Otaku
Check the uploading FAQ for further suggestions...Of course, that won't help "standard junk." It's possible, though, that the recording mixer for your sound card had more than one source turned on and up, or may be turned up too loud, and that may be where your distortion came from. Otherwise, it could be simply that the A/D and input mixer of the card is crap, which is fairly often the case.
