I just upgraded from 2.3 to 3. I did a complete uninstall, including registry.

Everything went fine except I cannot transfer my ripped mp3's to my mznh900. When i try to transfer, the song appears in the transfer window for a second, then disappears and a box pops up with the message ...Cannot convert the specified track. SonicStage does not support the file format of the track....

These are my own mp3 ripped from cd's, that i have had no problems with in the last 3 versions of SS.

Also when I try to transfer current .oma files I get Unable to transfer the track or tracks message

I am going on a trip on sunday, and would prefer not to go with an empty MD player, can someone please help me.

I first installed v3.0 and let that do the uninstall. When it started it could not read/convert the database, and it would not start at all. That is when I did the complete uninstall. It loaded, and I could import files, I just can not transfer.

the files were definitly converted into ATRAC3plus at 48k. (about 3000 of them)

The mp3's are all 128k.(Yes the quality is not that big a deal for me.)

I have been using SS for 3 years now with 3 different versions with absolutly no problems before now.

Any suggestions??

When upgrading, there's no need to uninstall via the directions in the FAQ. Sonicstage installer facilitates such.

You're 100% positive that the content has been converted into ATRAC3/plus? What bitrate are the *.mp3's?

Was the library pointing to MP3s that have been moved or deleted since they were converted to ATRAC?

If the MP3s were moved, the library will have two entries for all the converted files. The first, for the MP3, will be a dead link since the file is no longer there. SS will complain and then refuse to play the ATRAC file. [believe it or not, this is probably intentional, since it acts as a 'weak' form of copy protection.]

The only way I know of around this is to either:

1) put the MP3s back in the same places, and make sure they're named exactly as they were before, which seems pretty wasteful to me,

or

2) copy all the OMG files [most of which will be in the folder "Optimised Files" in your SS main storage folder] to another folder on your computer, delete all the offending tracks in your library, then manually import the OMA files back into SS - put them back in "optimised files" if they were deleted by SS's cleaning the library, then just dragndrop them into the SS library window. They should still have valid DRM info, and now SS will have only the one entry referring to the tracks, meaning your can play and transfer them.

SS -REALLY- needs a way of cleaning dead entries from the library that doesn't also delete the OMA tracks and all library references. It's such a pain in the arse having to work this way.

I have pretty much the same problem - the same error message- as decribed at the beginning of this thread. I am using SS3.0 (followed the procedure for installing) as per this forum. I am running Windows 2000 Prof and do not have FFDShow. After importing my MP3's, if I check file propeties in SS I see that they are still MP3's. If I right click convert - I get the 'file format not recognised message'. If I try to transfer from My Library to my Hi-MD NZ HF800 same message. SB also consistently reports that 'there were errors preparing to transfer'. So nothing works.......

After a couple of weeks of talking to sony techs for a couple of weeks. (At one time they told me that my tracks would never be able to be transfered) They found the problem. I am not at my home pc right now with my notes but if you are still having this problem I will post the solution later today.

1-Completely Uninstall Sonicstage & simple burner

2-Delete folders of the both programs

3-Remove NET MD drivers from your operating system.

4-Delete registry entries start with "SONICSTAGE" "SONY" "SIMPLEBURNER"

5-Update your audio codecs

6-Update your motherboard chipset driver (USB drivers too)

8-Update your bios drivers

9-Reinstall SonicStage

(if you have windows XP, you need to repair your installation with using your ORIGINAL cdrom)

Hard times waiting for you.

Do a search for folder called "Sony corporation" . Should be under windows/application data or windows/all users/application data.

Delete both these folders and contents. I had two references in my structure and removed them both.

Also under program files/common files there should be a folder called "sony shared" Delete this entire folder.

**these might be under different folders on your pc, just do a search for them**

Uninstall sonicstage using add/remove programs as well as any reference to Openmg.

After rebooting, reinstall sonicstage. For ME, everything works fine now.

I am running windows me, so if you have any other OS you should probably call sony. You can pm me and I can give you the reference number they gave me so they have some reference point.

Please let me know how this turns out.

I'm having the same problem, please post what they told you asayc, Thanks!
