Playback slower than original

Question

Hi,

I use my NW-HD5 to listen to an MP3 file of the English soundtrack of a movie while I watch the movie on a DVD player playing in German for my husband to hear. I rip the English soundtrack using DVD Audio Extractor.

The problem is that the MP3 file plays a bit slower than the original. This seems to be a problem with the NW-HD5 player itself, because 1. two other MP3 players I've used with the same procedure play in perfect sync, and 2. I've transferred the MP3 file to the player without using SonicStage (i.e. using the file manager software I found out about on this website - that was great!). Does anyone have an idea where this lag comes from?

Thanks in advance,

Monica

Thanks for the quick reply.

DVD Audio Extractor allows me to change plenty of settings. I already tried CBR (128 kbps) and I tried another sample rate (41000 Hz), but it didn't make any difference. I have no idea what settings I should change and why...

The other MP3 players that played in sync were cheaper, non-HD players. What can the difference be?

When I say Sony's Network Walkman device can be somewhat finicky, I forgot to add that your device may not playback Mp3 of MPEG2Audio Layer3 properly. Nonetheless, please try dBpowerAMP Music Converter or ensure your Mp3 is of MPEG1Audio Layer3. I hope this will work. Otherwise, report back and await suggestions from HD5 owners.
