kokoshka
I have many compilations recorded on my old MZ-R900 which I would like to record onto a 1 gb disc using my new MZ-NH900. The recordings are either standard or LP2, never LP4. I would be recording directly from one unit to the other, or via my amps input and output. If I want to avoid further compression on the new recordings, which setting should I use, HiSP or Linear PCM? I should maybe point out that I never use a PC to assist recording, as I use a Mac. Has anyone had any success with virtual PC on a Mac, running Sony software?
dex Otaku
PCM is the only uncompressed mode that would allow you to copy without incurring another generation of lossy compression. That is assuming you have the means to copy digitally, and if you're using two portables, you don't.My suggestion would be, since the NH900 is fully backward-compatible with legacy / MDLP discs, to simply continue using your MDs as they are.
