spindizzy
My MZ-NH900 has just arrived (lots of rustling paper noises as I unwrap all the bits - wow they've actually included opt. cables!)What's the best next step for installing software (I've been reading a lot of scary stories here for the last few weeks!)Should I plug in the CD and install everything then upgrade, or go straight to the SS3. link. (This is my first NetMD so my PC should currently be clean of any Sony stuff.)(OS is Win 2000 Pro / SP2 - I'll look into SP3 before I go furthertiaChris(Edited to change OS win200 --> Win2000 :-) Edited March 10, 2005 by spindizzy

It doesn't hurt to install the previous version from your PC, after all the difference isn't that big. I used SS2.1 (installed from the bits and pieces out of the temp directory) with no problem at all and I also use SS3 now (install again from the diff. *.zip files) but haven't used that extensively. Uploading, downloading, converting and saving into wav with the wave-converter did work without a problem. So if you want less entries in your registry, install SS3, if you want more, install SS2.x and than SS3 Hope this helpsChristoph
spindizzy
Thanks for the reply Phew .... SS3 downloaded and installed. So far so good, I'm just throwing a few random tracks onto MD to test. Maybe I'll take it along to tonights folk session and see what the live recording's like.Chris J
zerodB
If you just got a new MD, the only software you need is:- SonicStage 3.0- MD Simpleburner 2.0 (the newest version with PCM transfer support is available in these forums).SonicStage 3.0 has an integrated WAV convertor, which means you can record some live material (like your folk session), upload it to your PC, and then use SonicStage to convert those OpenMG (oma) files to WAV for editing in other programs like Audacity, etc.MD Simpleburner provides a quick and easy way to record in high-speed from an audio cd in your computer's CD-ROM drive to your MD. Christoph
SonicStage 3.0 has an integrated WAV convertor, ...←See, that's what I thought, but I couldn't find it, maybe that has to do with the install of the bits and pieces due to the fact I don't have an Internet connection at home.Or does this feature show up only when you have analog transfered files in Sonicstage???Do you know where I can find it? -- god, am I lazy, sorry I just found it under tools...save as wave Too stupid, sorry.
