VAIO Pocket - Music formats

Question

I have nearly filled my 40Gb pocket vaio now. I'ts full of MP3's that are mostly 192Kbps. My questions :

1> What atrac format is equivalent to 192Kbps mp3?

2> Is this format (see above) smaller in size than 192Kbps

3> Can I still assign album art to atrac files?

4> Is there some way I can mass convert all the files on the vaio to this new format automatically with minimum of fuss? (perhaps by running overnight?)

Please give clear as i'm a bit of a dope :>

Thanks!

1) Tough to say, but ATRAC3+ 192Kbps is playable on the pocket, so you may want to try that one out. The next one down is ATRAC3 132Kbps but personally I don't think it's as good as 192 mp3.

2) see above.

3) Yes, you can assign album art to any type of file that's compatible with SonicStage.

4) I don't know of a way to do this. You can mass convert your library in SonicStage by highlighting all music files and choosing convert but then you'll have to re-transfer them back to the pocket player.

In the end, I don't see much benefit in converting your mp3 files. You may squeeze a couple of hours more out of your battery life, but that's at the cost of quality since you'd be compressing an already compressed format even further.
