Guest musicboy
Hey Folks,I am needing an MD recorder. Can you help me decide what is best?I will most likely only use it three or four times a year.Primary function is recording some live music lessons, and a couple of concerts at this music school. The amount of recording time at one sitting is probably 3-4 hours. I can change disks though if needed.I would like to be able to put the music onto a regular CD from my computer, but not very often. So I may not even need to use a USB? Maybe just the computer mic jack? And since I will use it so little, the least expensive model that will do the job is probably best. Used is fine.Do I need a remote? I will be pretty close to the mic, within 8 feet. What type of microphone is inexpensive but really good. It will be a single musician at a time, so do I need dual stereo type mics? Or just a single one?So, what are your suggestions and why. Thanks for your time.musicboy
Turbo7MN
Not many MD units have mic inputs, especially new ones. If you really wanted direct USB uploading to a computer, Hi-MD would be the only way to go, and the ones with mic-ins are expensive. For your purposes I would suggest a Sony MZ-R700. It's an older model, and there are tons of them on ebay. The MZ-R900 has adjustable mic sensitivity and a line out mode, which may be better for recording the stuff onto your computer, but they are quite rare and pretty expensive. Guest musicboy
Welcome to the forums, musicboy..what's your maximum budget?←I am not sure. I could probably afford a higher end one, $250 or so, but since I will use it so little I don't see the point in spending that much for a new one. If I could get what I want for under $100 that would be better.Thanks.
