Sonic Stage -my Library- Problems...

Hi,

I've been reading through the forums for help, but my particular problem doesn't seem to be here, so here goes - Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I got Sonic Stage 2.3 bundled with a new NW-HD3 player, and have not been able to use the player yet. First the software wouldn't work at all, I got the same error messages etc as the other members. Upgraded to SP2 for XP - now works, sort of. It seems to rip music from CDs etc, but there appears to be nothing in the "My Library" to transfer files to the player.

It rips music from the CD, it puts it in the correct folders (when I open the default folder, the albums are there - or if I change the download to folder, the albums go there no problem) but the software tells me there are no files in the library, so the problem appears to be the software reading from the folder chosen to store my music.

I'm hoping this is something really simple, but I tried re-installing twice, then installing Sonic stage 3.0, then uninstalling 3.0 and reinstalling 2.3 all to no avail, all have the same problem...

Please help... wacko.gif

Ok, have done as requested, completely removed all Sony/Sonicstage files from the pc, re-installed 3.0 only and still have the same problem, as soon as I restart from the install, I get a Windows error telling me the OMGJBOX. ico(?) could not start.

Then when I open Sonic Stage, I get the following messages:

"Cannot find the database file or the database file is corrupted. Click OK to recover"

I click OK and get:

"Application has failed to start because VBAJET32.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem"

Then Sonic Stage opens but the My Library doesn't load any files.

Can the .dll files etc be downloaded and added in?

Other requested info...

*Windows XP-SP2

*Sonic stage 3.0 (This time, but have tired 2.3 and 3.0, installing one on top of the other AND removing all files and reinstalling)

*As far as I know, I don't have FFDSHOW (how would I know - would it show in the add/remove progams list? - it doesn't)

*Sony NW-HD3

*AMD3000+ 2.0GHz, 512MB RAM, USB2.0

Thanks for your help. It sounds like a lot of hassle to me. I might as well just return the thing, give up and buy a bloody Ipod.

Can someone explain to me how to try to resolve the JET problem, it must be worth giving that a try rather than uninstalling SP2 and installing a system that is entirely unnecessary for the purposes I need.

The reason given for my first problem was because I hadn't upgraded to SP2, the reason for my second problem is because the database won't work with an upgraded system. This is a perfect Catch 22 situation that would be laughable if it wasn't for a 250 quid machine from one of the biggest and most reputable electronics companies in the world.

I will tell anyone I know to avoid buying Sony like the plague due to the week of hassle I've had for a machine that, given how long MP3 players have been around and the fact it is manufactured by Sony, should be great.

Anyone? The JET problem? could someone explain to me how to try to fix that before I send this (apparently) useless waste of money back to where I bought it? Please?

Can I download and install anything to try to fix this?

check if the file is present in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 (and in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE , C:\WINDOWS\SERVICEPACKFILES\I386 too)

If the file doesn't exist , maybe something prevents it to be installed.

According to the registry contents , it is part of SP2 KB837001 security update;

you can't reinstall this update over SP2.

The only thing that is laughable is your attitude, aw_whit. We're giving you free help on our own time and you sit here and throw slanderous comments at Sony for issues on your own system! All of the time you spent rambling about such could been time spent downloading the manual installation of SP2 to fix it!

Nonetheless, try this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en

If that doesn't work, try this:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en

But like I said, this will most likely fail as XP will recognize that it has the most latest version. Something was corrupted when you installed the copy of SP2 you have, hence this error. It's not the fault of Sony, it's not our fault, and you need to listen to us instead of complaining.

If you want any further help, just private message me directly.

I hate to come off harsh, but this community will not have posts with such tones! We're all friends here.
