Help With Nh600d Upgrade

I recently bought a US version of the new bottom line Hi-MD (MZ-NH600D)

but was annoyed to find it had a download function instead of record.

(USB quick download not microphone in)

The Asia/Pacific model has a microphone in socket and DC 3v in for power adaptor but

the US model (D) does not. I assume that as with previous MDs sony will not have made multiple chips for different regions (made all te more likely by the use of case with socket provisions) and therefore i should be able to upgrade using the Service Mode.

To make this upgrade possible I would have to insert the sockets myself.

I opened up the player to check if there was circuit board provisions for the

mic and DC 3v sockets and there was.

If anybody can tell me how to alter the setup I would be very grateful.
