You can shuffle the whole HDD. Just put the play mode on "Track SHUF". That will shuffle the tracks on the whole player.

Yes, but the "track shuf function" only shuffles within Artist , Album, Genre, etc.. but i don't know if there is a way to just shuffle the entire hdd

If you go into any sub catergories, that will limit your track shuffle in that Sub Catergory ONLY.

Some modes have fewer sub catergories than others. Its explained in the manual. Sub Catergories are referred to as Play Units.

Here are the modes:

Artist Mode: ALL --> Artist (sub catergory) --> Album (sub catergory) --> SONG

Group Mode: ALL --> Group (sub catergory) --> SONG

Album Mode: ALL --> Album (sub catergory) --> SONG

Genre Mode: ALL --> Genre (sub catergory) --> Artist (sub catergory) --> SONG

Other Mode: New Tracks/Bookmark --> New Tracks (sub catergory) --> Group (sub catergory) --> SONG

Other Mode: New Tracks/Bookmark --> Bookmark (sub catergory) --> SONG

This means at each mode, Selecting Track Shuffle and Pressing Play will Playall Tracks on the HDD, the the exception of Other Mode - as they do not include all tracks. Ensure you are not in a sub catergory otherwise you will limit your Shuffle Pool.

If you want to shuffle songs from One Artist:

a) Select and "open" (press forward on the highlighted artist) the Artist under Genre Mode, Play

B) Select and open the Artist under Artist Mode

The system seems very redundant. Album mode seems to be almost useless - only good when you know the Album but not the Artist who sings that album.
