Transfer Atrac3 Files As Atrac3plus - How?

I've just bought my first album off the Sony Connect website. It came down as 132kbps ATRAC3, weighing in at around 45Mb. I typically rip CDs at 64kbps ATRAC3plus - it sounds fine to me and takes up a lot less room! The problem is that I can't find out how to transfer my ATRAC3 files to my Hi-MD player as 64bkps ATRAC3plus. If I set the SonicStage 2.3 transfer mode to "standard" then they go across verbatim as ATRAC3, and if I use "minimum bitrate" then I get 48kbps, which does sound bad even to me!

I tried converting the tracks beforehand using the format convert tool. This gave me some stuff in the "Optimized Files" directory on my PC, but still gave me 132kpbs ATRAC3 when I transferred. (My PC - Windoze XP Pro - also froze during the batch convert, but that's a different story).

I guess I could burn a standard audio CD and rip it at 64kbps AT3+, but that seems a bit excessive - and will probably reduce the sound quality.

So does anyone know how I can do what I want to, properly?

Many thanks

Kevin

While it applies to SS 3.0 and the controls are somewhat different, there are equivalents in SS 2.3. What you're looking for is the way to manually set the bitrate that gets put on the HiMD itself, which should be in those settings, in the same place where the choice between "standard mode" and not is, actually.

Unfortunately I no longer use SS 2.3, so I can't give precise details to you.
