pbrock
Hi All;I was under the impression that the Sony Mz-N707 offered no on the fly recording level adjustments?Having had my unit for quite sometime, I decided to get out and about again at a couple of concerts with a new set of mics from Sound Pro (ISI-HMAB-1)Set the unit to manual record level (in rec/pause mode) decided on a happy level, then started recording. My new mics have a small level control button on the outside, but lo and behold I also found I could adjust the recording level (while recording) by pressing the << & >> buttons? Mics have built in battery, so was connected via line-in.If memory serves me correctly, I was not able to do this before (i.e. any adjustment of recording levels on the recorder had to be done in rec/pause mode?) Am I losing my mind with age, or did I just miss this feature on my previous outings?I have not yet performed any hacks or any other such alteration of the unit.Next question is about the headphone output. Hacks listed on this site indicate monkeying with the eeprom can get me a lineout output from the headphone output. Another post on this site indicated that line out from the headphone out could also be achieved by turning off the "bass boost". Do I need to do both - hack the eeprom, and turn off the bass boost to achieve line out?Is it true line out? Or should I leave it well alone and continue using my MD deck for lineout to PC.Many thanksPeter B
