Menthol Moose
Say you compile a selection of music to A HI-MD and just in case want to keep a copy on your computer if the disc gets lost or currupted. (though unlikely)Sonic stage is obviously a royal pain in the arse, so is this a quicker way ?Obviously you cannot "copy" one HI-MD to another, but can you use a drive lettering program and do a image backup of the disc on your pc then write back the image to the drive letter later ?Has anyone done this and its worked ? Qwakrz
AFAIK this has been tried. The problem is there is a code stored on an unaccessable part of the disc that is used to encrypt the data on the disc, if you copy from one disc to another then it will refuse to play on the new disc. I think this code is also re-generated when you try and copy data back to the same disc so even this does not work.Sony's only way to backup a disc is to physically have all the files in SS, either as a copy of the one on the Hi-MD if it was a live / line-in recording or as the ripped tracks. Breepee2
Actually I don't recall anyone trying to with a real bitreader/writer. Maybe even in Linux, just to be sure.
