If you could start all over again, which one would you buy?

  1. 1. If you could start all over again, which one would you buy?

    • NW-HD5
      11
    • VAIO Pocket
      10

Question

Just wanted to see which one is more prefered.

Seriously though, I can't decide which one to get. The HD5 is smaller and has a longer battery life but quite frankly it looks kinda plain..... (to me, anyway)

And as for the VAIO Pocket, it is bigger and has less battery life than its walkman counterpart but looks oh-so-cool....

Thanks for your time.

First of all it depends on ur need if u travel more & likes to listen music , than u should go for NW-HD5 Than VAIO Pocket b`coz of battery life.Remember viewing slide show will also shortened ur battery life

But main thing here is less battery life means more charging needed (Battery can be charged for about 500 times after that u need to replace ur battery)therefore it means that u need to replace ur internal Vaio battery earlier than nw-hd5 battery

Secondly: Its size is bigger & weight is twice as NW-HD5

Thirdly:I agree that it is more toy like(Even Nw-hd1 & nw-hd3 r much better) & Vaio looks really soild.

Fouthly: vaio has tft screen (to consume more battery) &nw-hd5 has bright monochrome display.

But i think as we don`t see players face too much while listening to the music therefore i will suggest u to buy NW-HD5.

Geee, I actually bought my DAP (an HD5) to listen to it. I don't spend any time at all *looking* at it. Appearance should be a minor consideration IMO. It's about playing music, really. In fact, my HD5 (which looks nice IMO) spends almost all the time in my pocket, as I use a 35ELK remote for it. (And I also bough thte remote for its functionality, not for its 'looks'!)

Hi folks,

I just have sold my Vaio Pocket in Ebay :-)

A nice player but I used to use the train to go to work each morning which takes me about 90 mins and I love listening to music. The Vaio Pocket was to bulky for that task and the battery life after the latest software upgrade is a shame. The Vaio Pocket consumes battery even in standby and it happens quite many times that the battery power was completly gone so that I had to re-initialize the player. Annoying.

Well, the HD5, I own one in silber, is just perfect:

a) amazing sound quality (rated by CNET as the best sounding mobile player)

B) amazing battery life

c) simple but sophisticated product design and handling

d) amazing built quality

PS: I am using the Sony MDR-V700 headphones, try them with the HD5! It's just amazing...

I have never used the HD5, but I do own a VP. Use it all the time. Personally I don't really consider it bulky. It's not necessarily sizeable, but it is certainly heavy. That doesn't bother me too much.

No-one is really mentioning the price..the VP if you find it still will be insanely cheap since it is discontinued. (Yet to run into any problems btw..)

Lastly, as for sound quality, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that they are similar if not the same... but for sure feel free to flame the hell out of me if I'm wrong, since I'm not familiar with the HD5 and am solely going on the assumption that they have similar playback design paramaters.

For an on the go portable audio player -> HD5

For an in home jukebox -> Vaio Pocket (line out, dock, 40GB)

The HD5 has also a line out, you can swith it one in the settings. Afterwards it will provide enough power on the connector even for a high end system.

Yes, I agree, the VP has a 40GB hard drive and is more suitable for a jukebox...
