Ian Petrus
Could somebody tell me how long can a recording last with a HiMD recorder, so that I can get a WAV file on my computer ?I was told that the WAV converter can only process files recorded in PCM mode, so the maximum duration would be only 1 h 34 min. What about Hi-SP and Hi-LP modes ? Is it also possible to convert ATRAC compressed files into WAV format ?Many thanks.

ozpeter
Indeed you can convert files recorded in the Atrac modes - the only problem I could forsee is that the maximum size of a wave file (due to the RIFF header) is 4Gb, so if you had a huge single-track atrac file in theory you might hit the wave file limit. Ian Petrus
Assuming a 16 bit conversion at 44 KHz, it lets 12 hours !What puzzles me, is that Sony-France just replied me the exact opposite. For them, the Wav conversion is only possible with linear PCM recordings, not with ATRAC recordings.Looks odd, is'nt it ? Maybe French representatives are not up to date.
