not worth asking
Anyone here done this? It should be possible if you have any MD player with a digital out, and run that into a digital in of a computer or stand alone CD burner / DAT recorder etc. Any ideas on cheap MD decks with digital outs? SimonMackay
Hi!You may have to hunt around for secondhand equipment. One model worth looking for is the Sony MDS-JE520. This unit, IMHO, was a defining model for the classic MD specification as far as decks were concerned. I am still using one that is still working like new since '98. It has a digital output as an optical connector which will be relevant to your work.I would look for this unit on eBay or ring around the local pawn shops and "hi-fi disposals" shops. With regards,Simon Mackay Edited May 4, 2005 by SimonMackay
KJ_Palmer
Yes, eBay would perhaps be best for picking up decks with optical outs... I've always used Sony decks and have found them to be ultra-reliable so far... I use the MDS-JB980 - the best deck of the last generation...Note that second generation digital copies can't be 'transferred' optically (without an SCMS stripper) from consumer decks, though very good analogue copies can still be made...
