I have been reading alot here and I'm still a bit confused.Would it be better to run Mic's--Batt Box--Mic In,or to run Mic's--Batt Box--Line In.I have been using these mic's for a few years with a Sony wm-d3 cass. recorder and have never experienced overload.I wonder if i should use the RS Attenuator .Thanks alot Dylan

The battery box is meant to go through Line-in unless you're recording something extremely quiet.

Which Core Sound cardioids are they? Low-sensitivity ones can run directly into mic-in without the battery box. With high-sensitivity mics, either go mic-batt box--Line-in or mic-attenuator-mic-in. But try it first with just the mic into mic-in and see if that works without overloading. If it does, you're good to go.

I saw a few shows a couple weeks ago that were "moderate" in terms of volume. I ran my Core Sound LCBs into my Sound Pro's Battery Module w/ roll-off at 16 Hz. I plugged that into my RS Volume Attenuator and that into my recorder's Mic-In. The recording level was set at a manual 17 (although I upped this to 18 when re-attending the same show a few days later). These are arguably some of my best recordings ever.

Basically the reason I chose to use the Batter Module was to increase the dynamic range and Max Sound Pressure Level of my mics. You also have the added bonus of using bass roll-off with this setup. Adding the attenuator on the end takes the level back down from what the amplified signal would have been.

However, I would like to see what this setup sounds like through the Reactive Sounds Boost Box and into the line-in. I'm sure it would get rid of some of the noise that the recorder's own preamp adds.

I don't have the low cost ones and i must run thru the batt box because that is the way they are wired,so i guess that i will try the Line In.The line in is marked optical,does it also double for other(analog)?Do you also get manual rec. level on the line in ?Thanks alot for the info.Dylan
