Sonicstage 3.1 And Atrac3plus

Hi everyone!

I wonder if someone can help. I have a Sony NW-HD1 and previously used SonicStage 2.3. Today I upgraded to 3.1 but noticed there was no option to transfer my MP3s to the player using Atrac3Plus. The only options are all Atrac3. What happened to the Plus part? Even when a track is transferred to the HD1 using Atrac3, it says Atrac3 on the screen, not Atrac3Plus as it would say had it been transferred using Atrac3Plus. So is it only me who is having this problem? Or has Sony stopped support for Atrac3Plus?

Thanks very much.

I think that the software can be a little confusing. 256 kbs should be ATRACplus even though it not might say it in your import settings. Once imported though, if you look at the track properties, it says ATRACPlus. Import, look at the track properties and see what it says.

Thank you for your advice cbud.

I should have also mentioned that I had my HD1 upgraded by Sony to play MP3s. But sometimes I still wish to transfer using ATRAC as then I can fit more tracks onto the HD1. So I've got SonicStage 3.1 and in "Transfer Mode Settings," I choose "Specified bit rate transfer mode". When 66kpbs(Atrac) is selected, the MP3 file is converted and then transferred. Good.

However when 105kbps(Atrac), 132kbps(Atrac) or 256kbps is selected, it just transfers in MP3 mode, in other words doesn't bother converting to those bitrates.

Is there anything I can do about this?

By the way what is the difference in terms of sound between Atrac3 and Atrac3Plus?

Thanks very much.
