Pcm Recordings And The Mac

I have just purchased a Sony MZ-RH10 Hi-MD recorder + a ECMMS907 mic. as a compact recording set up for making location recordings. I am looking to make the best possible recordings on this unit (storage time is not a priority) so plan to work with PCM uncompressed.

Am I correct that the only way I will be able to get these recordings onto my Mac is via the mini jack line output of the MD (i.e playing out analogue)? Is there no software (freeware or otherwise) that can upload them - after all they are Wav files aren't they. I have a whole host of audio software on my Mac that can read Wav files but what I need now is a way to get them onto the Mac hard disc in the first place.

any ideas?

thanks

Thanks - I had seen that thread but was just hoping that there was another way, not involving installing Virtual PC and Windows on my machine. I have researched this but haven't come up with anything so far. Will keep looking and hoping though.

best

Personally I think it's unlikely Sony, or anyone else, will never put together something for the Mac. I don't see it coming anytime soon, but at a minimum if people keep working at it I'm sure someone will eventually crack the HiMD scheme which will open up the option for Mac software.
