1nfinite zer0
Hello! First, I'd like to thank this community for all of the valuable information that they have posted. I was lurking here a while back gathering knowledge and am now the proud owner of an nhf800 and a 907 mic which i've already been able to do some recording with. I've actually been very pleased with the results up until about yesterday. I was able to record easily from my turntables as well as taping a live DJ & electric guitar session and free drumming at a friend's party. and they sounded really good...yesterday and today I've encountered a problem. After pressing stop from recording, it flashes to DATA SAVE like normal and then it flashes REC ERROR and i've lost the whole set. This has happened from both the mic inputs and the line in inputs. AGC is on, and set to standard. It's been plugged in for both times. The volume average for the mic session was around the dot (0dB?) but for the line-in/turntable session it was close to the upper limit, though i didn't see it peek past the dot whenever i looked.i am trying to determine whether this is something that i am doing or *crosses fingers against* a hardware issue... any help would be greatly appreciated. Prof.OND
I 've once had the problem when deleting a piece of a recording. It gave me a record error and afterwards cannot read or write. when i started up SS it wouldn't recognize my HiMD recordings, but when i pulled the disk out and put it back in while SS was open and HiMD attached, i was able to play some files, other files made SS crash. Then i deleted the track i thought that caused the problem (file that was probably corrupted)and i was able to use/copy/play the rest of the data both on SS and HiMD. Have you checked (using explorer) if there are still data left in de hifi file that refer to your recording?Probably this will not help you unless sombody knows how to transfer the data file in hifi on your md to a readable audio format. 1nfinite zer0
I can play from this disk, but i cannot delete any of the tracks on it. Also, to clarify, the issue happens after it says "system file writing"Have you checked (using explorer) if there are still data left in de hifi file that refer to your recording?Probably this will not help you unless sombody knows how to transfer the data file in hifi on your md to a readable audio format.I would like to try this method as I have some recordings on there that i do not want to lose, but i am not sure i understand what you mean by this. A440
If you can play from the disc, then hook up the USB and SonicStage, get TotalRecorder for $11.95, play the disc back with SonicStage and use TotalRecorder to record the tracks as .wav files . Then you have them for copying, burning, etc. http://www.highcriteria.com/Finding the data files with Windows Explorer (connecting via USB, right-clicking on the MD as a disc drive) won't do any good. The files are encrypted thanks to Sony's ridiculous DRM policy, and only SonicStage or an MD player can play them back as audio. If this is happening on a number of different discs then it may well be a hardware problem. The US guarantee for the NHF800 is 90 days parts and labor, 1 year parts, so unfortunately it could be an expensive fix.
