That's one of the best HiMD (and portable audio) deals available. If you're not bothered with the smaller size and increased features of the higher spec models then the NH600 is a steal at £58 (shipping included). Blank 1gb discs are available cheaper elsewhere however so don't get them there.

HiMD is better than flash unless you're using it for heavy duty sport. Unbeatable.co.uk are good - I got my NH1 from them and the delivery, although expensive, is next-day

I have the US version of that player (no line in). It is my workhorse unit now. I use it as a player at work. If you don't mind the slightly bigger size because it uses an AA battery it is fine. It is a little plasticky but overall a good kick around unit.

Great shout Paul

I ordered one of these 29th May - arrived today - and i'm having fun with minidiscs again.

Have just returned from a creative zen xtra - which admittedly had 60Gb but the sound quality just doesn't compare with this £49.98 :-) player.

Maybe it's because I grew up with singles & LPs but there is something very satifying about having discs with you music on rather than just looking it up on file list - it's a tactile thing.

An added bonus was that this player also has line in (opt & elec) and a remote socket (although a remote isn't supplied I was happy to see my MC10L from my old 707 was compatable).

As far as the Hi-MD discs go I picked up 8 (should be more than enough) from www.discountdiscs.co.uk for £28.72 inc postage, which works out at £3.59 each - not bad.

All in all I'm impressed with the progress that seems to have been made in the last few years both with the players & SonicStage software. I supose the only down side is that this unit doesn't play MP3s directly but to be honest the conversion isn't that bad (and it'll give me an incentive, if I need one, to save up for an RH10).

The only thing I really miss so far compared to the HD based players is the ability just to copy a folder over and retain the file structure - anyone know if this is possible with sonicstage?

Lets hope Sony stick with it - it looks as if their HD players will outstrip sales of the MD pretty soon as the prices are becoming comparable nearer the high end .....

Cheers

I'd have brought one of these units had I known before I forked out for an NH-1 of Amazon.

This is simply because I only use my minidisc to listen to music ad don't record or anything, and the money saved could have went on something else.

I'm not dissapointed though, as I have a remote and a neatlooking music player.

This is one of the stupidest things about SonicStage. If you have the files in the folder titled so they have the track order upfront (01-First Song-Great Band, etc.) and you import the folder into SonicStage, then there is a heading on SonicStage about date imported, so they will all be together if you click on that. You still have to put them back into a group. Why SonicStage hasn't added group importing after 3 versions is one of those Sony mysteries.
