doylekm
I was transferring tracks from a CD using MD Simple Burner and my PC crashed. Now when I try to use MD Simple Burner it reports 'Cannot continue because files on this disk are being used by another program'. I have tried formatting the disc using Sonic Stage but it has made no difference. Any suggestions welcome.Thanks.
A440
How about on the unit itself? Menu/Edit/Erase/Erase All or Format.
doylekm
Yes I tried that too, and have also tried upgrading to SonicStage 3.0 - but now shows error "cannot use this disc as an audio disc because it was initialised by a program other than SonicStage. Click Properties on the Device/Media panel and initialize the disc to use it as an audio disc."Not sure what it means by click Properties, but I ran the Initialize function within the Device/Media panel as well to no avail. The MZ-NH900 player show 'NO TRACK' on the display when not connected and SonicStage shows it as 0Mb free, 0Mb used. Unfortunately as this unit is new, this is the only Hi-Md disc I have so I can't test another.
A440
"No Track" should mean you have a blank disc. Try recording something on it--just push the Record/Enter buttons and get some silence through Line-In--to see if it's usable that way. If it will record a track, and play back with the time-display changing, that's good--at least your disc is OK. Then connect to SonicStage, select Hi-MD under Transfer and see if SonicStage recognizes the track. If it will you're back in business. But that's the optimistic scenario. Another possibility is that SonicStage is having one of its database problems after your crash. First try running the program ojbsir.exe, which is in your SonicStage folder (just Search for it with Windows)--you need to be connected to the internet. If that doesn't work--says it can't find the internet connection or something--then try running the MDAC repair tool from Downloads at the top of this page and, again, see if SonicStage will recognize the disc. If you're still having trouble, the next step is thoroughly uninstalling SonicStage with these directions, particularly Step 3: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071 and reinstalling it--might as well upgrade to 3.1 while you're at it. Unfortunately, system crashes and system restores can make SonicStage very touchy.
doylekm
I've been away for a while so have only just tried the suggestions above. I have connected the MZ-NH900 to another PC with a fresh install of SonicStage and this works fine so it appears to be a PC not a minidisc problem, so that's good. I have tried reinstalling SonicStage on the PC that crashed but it gets to the last stage of the installation process (install Personal Audio = 100%) and then reports 'Installation process for SonicStage 3.1 has been terminated'. I have tried this several times after running the MDAC utility, deleting all SonicStage registry entries and disabling virus scanning software. Any other ideas on what could be causing the problem? Christopher
State the system specs of the computer in question according to the rules.
