wom
Hi EveryoneI'm having a problem with my MZ-N10. Very very occasionally sonicstage will transfer songs to my unit, but 99% of the time it keeps saying "no disc inserted". Now the unit itself can play discs I've recorded in the past with no problems what so ever. Could it be that I need a new charger cradle? Could it be a loose wire somewhere in the unit?Windows detects that the player is connected fine, and I have updated sonicstage to 3.1. Thanks

Thanks←I still use one of these regularly -- still a great piece of kit.SS 3.1 works fine with this -- the USB connection is actually the same as is used in the newer HI-MD unit MZ-NH1.Sometimes the USB connection is not that great so check that --and also ensure that MD simple burner is not running as this will start up as soon as it detects any type of MD unit connected to the computer -- you'll probably see a message like "No audio device in CD" as it is expecting you to rip a CD.Switch off the any automatic start --- for example I think one of the options in SS is to start every time an ATRAC device is connected. Finally remove and re-insert the USB into the computer --.I'm using Windows XP pro with sp2 applied and SS 3.1 and mostly have no trouble at all apart from the fiddly USB connection on the device.Cheers-K
wom
Thanks for the reply. I've just upgraded from 2.x as I was having the trouble back then too. I thought 3.1 might fix it, but no luck. That's why I thought it might be a simple hardware problem such as the usb cable. I hadn't thought of trying the optical cable link from the stereo until just before, so I will have to give that a go tonight. Hopefully it will be just in need of a new usb cable or at worst a new charger cradle.
wom
Well it records with absolutely no problems with the optical cable, so I'm going to assume that it's either the usb cable or the charger cradle itself. Good thing there's a Sony shop 5 minutes away from work. Thanks
