Responce of Sony ...

Hello Sir,

Few days back i e-mailed u regarding Firmware upgrade for NW-HD5, NW-HD3 & NW-E505.But instead u gave me link for the download of SS ver 3.3.As i have already told u that i have ss ver 3.3. & the Problem is regarding new bit rates which have been added with new ss ver 3.3.Main problem is that u can`t tranfer music which have been converted to Atrac 3plus having bit rates 128kbps,160kpbs,320kpbs,356kpbs & even new codec Atrac Advanced Lossless  or WMA(this has been added to new sonic stage) iS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.Whenever i try to tranfer them they are first converted to Atrac 3 plus 64kpbs(Default setting ) then they r tranferred to our network walkman.I think our network walkman doesn`t support these new bit rates.So thats why i asked sony to upgrade our devices through new firmware.Otherwise there is no use of these new bit rates for our network walkman.Also i think it is useless to upgrade from sonic stage 3.0 to 3.3.I`m hopeful that sony will definately release a new firware for our device so that we use these new bit rates

Dear Sir / Madam

Greetings from Sony India Customer Care Center.

This is in response to your mail.

As referred in your mail,the latest bitrates available in the Sonicstage Version 3.3 are not compatible to the model NW-HD5,NW-E505 and NW-HD3.The bit rates given in the manual of the respective models are the only compatible bitrates.

We will forward your feedback to the concerned department and we will keep you updated on any firmware upgradation  announced in future.

sony india, probably just have some guy who fills in a bunch of blanks in a standard email. I think if you want a firmware upgrade you need to talk to sony japan or US.

Yesterday Sony Technical Specialist called me up-regarding this Bit rate Problem

I told him that new Atrac bit rates which have been added to Sonic Stagever3.3 are

totally useless..I also told Him that basically Sonic Stage ver3.3 is meant for old players like HD5,HD3,HD1,E505(except for A3000(SERIES & 600 (SERIES) & Connect is meant for new players ...So these new bit rate should be compatible with are players Otherwise It is totally useless to keep the songs in Atrac128kpbs,96kpbs,320kpbs etc ,Atrac Lossless in our computers(As they are going take space on our PC`s)..We Don`t want these bit rate just to listen to music on our computers ..And He also agreed with me .
