tylendel Posted June 22, 2005 Report Share Posted June 22, 2005 i've been recording shows for a couple years now (my rig is SP-CMC-2 mics > SP-SPSB-6 battery box (w/ bass rolloff) > Sharp MD-DR7) and up until now i've been using an iMic for transfers. recently i got a new soundcard (m-audio audiophile 2496) and a MD deck from a friend (Sony MDS-JB920) so i'm eagerly looking forward to finally being able to do digital transfers. however i'm finding myself very confused as to exactly what kind of cable i need to use to connect the two. i know i need to use the optical out on the deck, into i guess the S/PDIF digital in? or can i use the coaxial out into the S/PDIF digital in? i'm feeling really stupid because i guess i don't understand the difference.
