Hello everybody I am new here... just got a Vaio pocket 2 days ago thru the "hot sale" that was going on, got it from Ubid.com. Totally fall in love with it... sold my iPod to a friend and it beats ipod in every way after I updated the firmware and everything... HOWEVER, the Sonicstage 3.1 is NO WHERE near Itune... that was a big disappointment.. sad.gif

I have lots of Chinese/Japanese/Korean Mp3s... but when I import them on the SS, the titles and everything changed to bunch of ??? and when I transfer them to the pocket, all the letters couldn't be displayed... only bunch of messed up symbols. mad.gif

I DID do a lot of research and tried everything I can, but I am no computer expert, so I don't know how to edit .INI stuff.... anyways, Anybody can help me out here?

The pocket has the ability to read Chinese/Japaneses etc, right????

I have a English XP SE2 and newest SS 3.1 also I tried to Regedit some codes from other thread... didn't work.

what should I do now? Should I install a Japanese version SS? if I do, are my collections already in the english SS gonna be deleted or they can CO-EXIST?

Please help if you can...I am pretty sure there are some SS expert here...

THank you for your time reading this!! laugh.gif

To enable kanji/kana titling using the English version of SonicStage 3.1 currently installed in your system, you will need to run a simple registry edit for SonicStage 3.1. Please follow the instruction below and run SonicStage 3.1 with Microsoft AppLocale.

If you follow the steps below, kanji and kana characters will show as it should. Please remember to run SonicStage 3.1 with Microsoft AppLocale after the registry edit. Naturally, under Microsoft AppLocale, run SonicStage 3.1 under Japanese language if you desire to title in Japanese; and the same applies to Chinese language if you desire to title in Traditional/Simplified Chinese. I can guarantee it works perfectly.

--> Using regedit, go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Sony Corporation\OpenMG\PD\{D887F25F-02A3-44D7-841F-583DD5231B5F}

--> Then locate the entry called "AreaCode" with a value of 2 for US version.

--> Change it to 40000 hexadecimal. That's the value on the Japanese install of SS.

If you prefer to install the Japanese version of SonicStage 3.1, I have edited (specifically the .ini file) the installer for your convenience. Click the attachment below.

Good luck.

I am giving it up... tried at least 10 times and was gonna break the computer... SonicStage is totally POS. Anyways, I am so sick of trying... maybe there is something wrong with my computer??? when I open the folders, all the songs were displayed nicely, but when I imported it to SS, it got all messed up...

Is there a solution that works in Win98SE?

Thanks, Mike
