Problem with SonicStage/Connect!

Rate this question

Question

I have a NW-HD1 filled with music and before I started to transfer songs to it I authorize the computer that I was using. Now when I got a new computer I also got a big problem. When I log in to the Connect Service (SonicStage 3.3) and want to authorize my pc I get this message:

"Non-U.S. Access

It appears that your computer is currently accessing Connect from outside the United States. Due to licensing restrictions, music on Connect is not available for download from outside the United States.

Questions? Contact Customer Service"

I DON'T wanna download music through connect, just want to authorize so I can transfer new tracks to my HD Walkmen beacause now right now I get a message that I have deal with earlier:

"Cannot transfer copyright protected tracks from this computer because the ATRAC HDD contains tracks from another computer.

All the tracks from the ATRAC HDD must be deleted before tracks can be transfered from this computer.

If you authorize the ATRAC HDD, you will also be able to transfer tracks from other auhorized computers."

Does someone know have I can solve this problem so i don't have to delete all my albums on the Walkmen..?

Thanks for all help!

/Anders

ARE you accessing connect website from outside US?If Yes,Then you will have to use US proxy for it .SSince your player is from US you will need to authorize your network walkman..

:ol_arrow:Non U.S Access - what to do?

"Cannot transfer copyright protected tracks from this computer because the ATRAC HDD contains tracks from another computer
As you have changed your computer so now you will need to format your nw-hd1 hard disk.Otherwise sonic stage will not allow you to transfer music on your network walkman

Does someone know have I can solve this problem so i don't have to delete all my albums on the Walkmen..?

No,there no method other than formating your network walkman hard drive..

Link for number of Free proxy

:ol_arrow:proxy4free

:ol_arrow: SS 3.2 wants to authorize device

Using proxy might slow your internet but it will solve your problem.

How to use it?

I`m quite hopefull that you are using Broadband.

1.Go to control panel.

2.Then click on "Internet option"

3.In internet option click on "connections"

4.Then click on :LAN SETTINGS"

5.Click under "proxy server"

6.Then write your proxy adderess in the given box & not to forget to write port number as well

USE THE "US" ONE

FUCK! It wasn't so easy...

But now I really don't get it. I change my proxy settings and then got the U.S Access, so I authorized my new computer (my third computer of the five which is correct) and it also said I have one authorized device, true.

But when I plug in my NW HD1 and go to the transfer section of SOnicStage I get this familiar message:

"Cannot transfer copyright protected tracks from this computer because the ATRAC HDD contains tracks from another computer.

All the tracks from the ATRAC HDD must be deleted before tracks can be transfered from this computer.

If you authorize the ATRAC HDD, you will also be able to transfer tracks from other auhorized computers."

I can play the songs from my device in SonicStage, something I didn't could before the access/authorize-problem. I also can transfer new tracks to my device and play this songs via SonicStage just like the "old" tracks but when I want to listen to them in normal way, with earphones and not via the computer this message blinking on the display:

"Cannot play track on this device"

What is this? I thought I had authorized both the computer and the device but have I missed something?

Thanks for help!

Since you imported your old tracks in your old computer .So now you will need to delete all the previous library in Sonic stage that you imported from your old computer & reimport it again.

Thats all you can do now !

I know it is going to consume a lot of time ....

Trust me this will work

oH NO! Soorry for that >

SInce you are able to transfer tracks from your computer.so thats not the problem,Right.

I think during authorization sonic stage might have modified some of your files in your network walkman.

What i`m going to say is first back up all the files that you have in your network walkman(copy to hard drive of computer) then format your network walkman(using main menu of network walkman)

Then again tranfer some songs from sonic stage.see if it works .

Please follow the first step in case if the second step didn`t work then you can copy those files to your network walkman

Ye, I can transfer new tracks but these tracks cannot play in the walkman, only through SonicStage when the walkman is connected.

But I will try your suggestion, but I still don't know what I have done wrong..? Will this problem show up next time I switch computer (or want to transfer tracks from a friends computer) again? Both the computer and the device is authorized (I thought...)

AND you say that I may backup all music om my walkmen IN CASE if all will me erased when I initialize the walkman. Do you mean that there is a chance that it NOT will be erased?

Thx!

Incase my suggestion didn`t work up.So atleast you will have the back up ....to copy it again on your network walkman...

Note:I`m asking you to copy the contents of your network walkman first to your hard disk of your computer.

Then initialize the walkman

but I still don't know what I have done wrong..?

My dear friend, you haven`t done anything wrong its Sonys Encrypted policy , copyright & not to exchange policy that is preventing you from listening the songs on your network walkman...

AS you got a new computer & a new location

Have you initialize the walkman?

Then transfer your music again from your Sonic stage to your walkman & then tell me whether you are able to listen songs from your walkman or not..

Second Query:

I`m not sure but i think if you try to tranfer tracks from another computer then you will face the same problem....

I don't think there is a solution. Unless you can use the backup program beforehand....does that even work with different computers? In either case, if you don't prepare beforehand, Sony's DRM nonsense will make you reload your music...a difficult proposition when your HDD crashes, etc!!! I have been through that, and that is the main reason I am gun shy about another Sony DAP. The flash player's aren't as big a deal as I am not going to be lucky enough to have an entire collection on it at any one time to trasfer back to my PC. :(

I guess Sony feels that it is your responsibility to reencode 100's of CDs if something bad happens or you get a new PC. I loved my old Pocket Vaio, but this very problem put me off of Sonic Stage. God only knows what will be the case with the Connect Software.
