Hi everyone.

Has anyone got any advice for me ,I recorded a show the other night on my hi-md nh1 and although I can upload to ss 3.2 ,when I try to convert to wav it saves the new file but I cannot open it with any program, they say unexpected format found.I used ss 3.1 a few months ago and had no trouble converting. Is the procedure any different?

cheers in advance

Are the converted files named as .wav files?

Do you have any other .wav files on your computer? Do those still play? You might be having trouble with your .wav codec.

Hi.

Thanks for your reply, yes the files I converted a couple of months ago play fine. Am I supposed to rename the file before transferring, I dont remember having to do that before, I converted to wav after transfer. This time when I converted I get a wav file but cannot open it with any program. I have copied the new file to dvd to keep it safe. any ideas please.

No, you don't have to rename before uploading--I just wanted to make sure the file you've ended up with has a .wav extension.

Do you still have the .oma file you uploaded to your computer? Does that play with SonicStage? You could try converting it again with either SonicStage (there is no limit on conversions) or marcnet's Hi-MDrenderer (from Downloads).

If you don't have the uploaded file, SonicStage 3.2 should allow you to upload again from the disc. To be ultraparanoid, get TotalRecorder, connect the USB, use SonicStage to play it back from the disc through your computer and record it onto your computer with TotalRecorder. (Make sure TR is set to record stereo .wav files under its options.) Then upload again and try converting.

Again thanks for the quick post, yes I do have the original .oma file and it does indeed play through sonic 3.2. I think I will buy another hi-md disk and play around by recording through the mike a track from my hifi and then transfer it to sonicstage until I get it right. The file I am having trouble with is about 2 hours long in hi sp mode. Thanks again.

Try running SonicStage's converter on it again: Under Tools, Save in .Wav format. You can also download HiMDRenderer from downloads and see if that will convert the .oma.

Two hours of .wav is going to be very big file: 1.2GB. Do you have the hard drive space for it?

I also wonder if the size of the file is a problem for the SStage converter. I've never uploaded a single track that's that long.

Hi again. I have just tried a short recording off the t.v. on a new blank, I renamed the file in the transfer window and it converted . Played it and it opened fine. I transfered my latest live recording ( james blunt) and named the transfer "blunt". It transfered and converted. Opened it in wavelab and all is ok. Just wondering if the short file name as opposed to the default date and time name has made the difference?. Anyway the sound is a bit low ,I have used a maplins headphone control and awia small mic, maybe the mic is`nt good enough but hope to boost it up in wavelab. Now onto ray davies and greg lake next month.

Thanks for your advice everyone.
