ruxma
If you recording a CD to Atrac In Sonystage 3.3 you can choose between normal and high quality, where normal is faster. Does anybody know the technical differences? A hypothesis from me is that normal quality doesn't transcode over a certain frequency e.g. 15000 Hz. Only a guess. Does anybody knows for certain? Beethovenian
The qualities here refer to ripping. If you use high quality, it will try to get a more accurate rip, slowing down when it reaches points on the CD surface that may be scratched or smudged and that may produce artifacts. Normal will overlook these eventual problems, meaning an old CD may sound with glitches. It won't affect the quality of your encoding. I think it's better just to use high quality, unless you're time pressed and have pristine CDs.

Guest Stuge
Dear Sir/MadamThank you for your recent e-mail. I can advise that the Normal and High recording quality options available in the CD importing format window of Sonic Stage will affect the transfer speed of the tracks to the library. When the High option is selected the system will take a little longer to transfer the data and provide a slightly higher quality of data, and ultimately sound in comparison to the Normal option. To decide which quality you prefer I recommend that you transfer a single track to your library using the same format and bit rate, in both High and Normal quality, and then to the tracks to see which you prefer. I hope this information is of assistance. With regardsAbc (name changedFor and on behalf ofSony United KingdomBeethovenian is Right as Sony U.K also suggest the same ...
