Need Some Info

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I need to find some information for a school project. I need to write about why MD isn't fully successful. Heck, I don't even know how successful it is/was. I know that MD has had success at different stages of its existence - I bought one about 5 years ago so it must have been 'in' for me to splash out as a teenager. However, I knew of only one other person who bought one, and within months MD was but a distant memory.

So, please can anyone link me to pages where I can find out:

a) What period it sold well

When sales dropped, and why

c) Actual figures and quotes pertaining to both good & bad sales, and reasons for that

d) How MD's features fared against features of formats like CD, cassette, and mp3

I found a site before that quoted a Sony exec discussing why he believed the format didn't take off (because they focused on quality whereas most folk would settle for lower quality/lower price).

Thank you very much for any help. I have trawled the net for 3 hours and apart from technical speak, have found very little info about sales trends. Your own explanations would be awesome too.
